Children enter the classroom
To sounds of laughter of those
Engrossed in ecru and brown slices
Of purple jelly on Zachary’s nose
While Ziva slices bananas.
Yellow circles to lay on sourdough toast
Surrounded by nuts and raisins
“Peanut butter for breakfast,”
The teacher cries to deaf ears of
Giggles and sweet smells of learning
The perfect way to make a sandwich.

* This morning I filled out an online job application for
an editor of a learning company. Their last question was
“write a couple of lines on what’s the best way to make a
peanut butter & jelly sandwich.” This was my answer.
